Resource Design & Management Pty Ltd was announced as the winner of the NSW Excellence in Surveying and Spatial Information Awards 2011 for Environmentally Sustainable Development.  The award recognizes the skills, knowledge and management used in the fields of civil engineering design, planning and the solving of environmental issues as applied to land development projects.

Rivendell Estate, nestled in the picturesque Orara Valley at Nana Glen on the North Coast of NSW is a leading light towards future sustainable rural living.  Although the development is only a relatively small estate it demonstrates the delivery of an environmentally responsible and sustainable development outcome which supports and strengthens both the biodiversity of the area as well as the ongoing viability of the small rural community of Nana Glen.

Resource Design & Management (RDM) has been intimately involved in all aspects of the development, from site acquisition, project management, environmental assessment, concept design, planning, surveying and engineering. RDM was required to address a broad range of environmental issues as well as challenge the existing development standards pertaining to the site.

The estate demonstrates the important and critical skills of the surveyor in analysing the constraints and opportunities of an environmentally sensitive site and responding with an innovative design solution that not only provides for the long term environmental management of the site, but also provides a cost effective and marketable development outcome.
